FOX mic’d up Mark Canha and Fernando Tatís Jr mid-game — and it was awesome
To the powers that be at FOX Sports, thank you!
During Saturday’s national broadcast of the A’s-Padres (which is also awesome for West Coast baseball), A’s designated hitter Mark Canha and superstar shortstop Fernando Tatís Jr. were mic’d up while they were in between the lines and in the dugout. And it was awesome.
It must be so annoying to be on the field while you have two broadcaster dudes chirping in your ear, but it’s 2020 and here we are. I was very impressed with Tatís’ ability to play the game and have a conversation at the same time.

We also got an unfiltered response from Tatís when Jonah Heim’s bat when flying toward the San Diego dugout.

The next inning, Mark Canha jumped on the mic and shared why he loves being a DH so much. Great stuff.

Canha stayed mic’d up as he approached the plate for his next at-bat, giving a shoutout to his daughters and warning the catcher/home-plate ump. Woulda been sick if he hit a dinger and did a bat flip or something, but, alas, he just grounded out and didn’t even say anything in the process.

Still, this was cool as shit and would love to see this incorporated in to more regular-season games going forward.
